CBD hemp health benefits and legal situation in Switzerland

CBD hemp: health benefits and legal situation in Switzerland

CBD Hemp resp. CBD oil is now the talk of the town. Even if the boom has already subsided a little again, many people swear by this active ingredient. The results obtained are good and the preparation has proved to be extremely helpful.

Especially for diseases for which there are still few therapeutically effective solutions. But what exactly is CBD, is it legal in Switzerland, what forms are there and what does CBD help against??

What is CBD Hemp?

Hemp CBD is cannadibiol and is extracted from the female hemp plant. The hemp plant has been used as a medicinal plant for more than 5000 years. 489 components of the hemp plant have now been identified.

Flavonoids, terpenes and phytocannabinoids have been found in the hemp plant. A special interest is the phytocannabioids. Over 70 of these phytocannabioids have been found so far.

The best known are cannabidiols (CBD), tetrahydrocannabinols (THC), cannabinole (CBN), and cannabigerols (CBG). Tetrahydrocannabinol is the intoxicating component of the hemp plant.

The non-intoxicating constituent is cannabidiol (CBD). CBD oil is derived from industrial and commercial plants, while THC is derived from the indica plant.

CBD is not psychoactive and does not cause intoxication, unlike THC. CBD helps with many clinical pictures and is successfully used in the health service.

Meanwhile, there are quite a few studies that prove the effectiveness of CBD. The medical risks have not been sufficiently researched to date. Until today the benefit is in the foreground.

What forms of CBD are there?

CBD is available in different intake variants. CBD is available in the form of CBD drops, oil capsules, powder capsules, drops and tablets. Powders and CBD flowers are also available.

The purest and healthiest form of CBD is provided by the drops. Not everyone likes the taste and so you can resort to capsules that contain the oil. Many people find this intake more convenient and comfortable.

However, it must be remembered that the effect of CBD drops is faster, because they are immediately absorbed by the oral mucosa and the rest after swallowing by the gastric mucosa.

In the case of CBD capsules, the shell must first dissolve in the stomach before the CBD can take effect. In capsules with powder content, the content comes from ground hemp leaves. Also capsules with crystalline are available on the market.

Tablets and CBD drops still contain some carriers. CBD grass and CBD flowers are smoked or inhaled with the help of a vaporizer.

When smoking, of course, the negative effect of the substances that are inhaled occurs again. CBD flowers and CBD leaves are excellent for making a tea.

What are the effects of CBD oil or CBD in general??

CBD shows a high diversity of effects. According to many opinions, it has analgesic, anti-epileptic, anticonvulsant, anti-psychotic, anti-anxiety, anti-nausea, antibacterial against certain germs (MRSA), reduces the risk of diabetes disease and has nerve-protective properties.

Especially these neuroprotective properties link CBD to neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease and also Alzheimer’s disease.

CBD is also being considered for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Studies in the USA prove a pain relief potential or also a healing potential with arthritis, alcohol problems, epilepsy, schizophrenia, depression, chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, migraine and cancer.

A very versatile application of CBD, but only partially supported by studies.

How does CBD oil work optimally?

In the course of time it was found that plant substance mixtures have a higher biological activity than the isolated pure substance. The hemp plant in itself has a variety of phytocannabinoids and terpenes.

These substances play a crucial role in the effect of CBD. The combination of some substances optimizes the effect. It is called the entourage or synergy effect.

There are also medical conditions in which THC in combination with CBD plays a role and represents an important substance. Preparations without THC are almost not available, but usually the content is so low that it has no noticeable effects.

CBD actually binds to CB2 receptors, but blocks CB1 receptors at the same time. The CB1 receptors are where THC normally binds. This explains why there is no effect with small amounts of THC.

How CBD is dosed?

The dosage of CBD depends on the individual, their general condition and the disease being treated. Also important is what kind of CBD it is.

Is it synthetically produced or from the plant? As with almost all preparations, the synthetically produced preparations are weaker than the natural preparations.

In general, CBD with THC has a stronger effect than CBD without THC. Less is more, also applies to CBD preparations. A dose of 10 mg to 40 mg is recommended for adults.

However, the dose can also be increased up to 800 mg. For children, a dose of 2 to 10 mg per kilo of body weight applies.

Side effects

Side effects were hardly found and if at all only to a small extent. After taking CBD, some patients noticed a dry mouth or low blood pressure. However, very rarely and to an extremely small extent.

Drinking a glass of water already provided relief. When taking prescription drugs at the same time, it is advisable to consult with a doctor, as CBD neutralizes, reduces or enhances some active ingredients.

Overdose

No negative effects have been found even with massive overdoses.

Is CBD legal? And where to buy CBD hemp and CBD oil?

CDB oil is available in specialized stores, pharmacies, hemp counters, head stores at kiosks and online mail order in Switzerland and is legal in all variants.

However, it is a prerequisite that the THC content is less than 1 percent. Thus CBD does not fall under the narcotics law in Switzerland.

If the THC content is over 1 percent, the narcotics law takes effect and the possession and sale is punishable. CBD products may not be labeled as food or as medicine or remedy.

There are voices that fear that in the course of CBD legalization, smoking pot will also be legalized.

CBD grass and CBD hemp – a boom or just curiosity?

Many stores are feeling a decline in CBD products, especially CBD hemp and CBD weed. Those who simply found it interesting to “smoke pot” in public on the street, stay away.

These games with the police have lost their appeal. The products are now established, so it is no longer so appealing to this clientele. The kick is missing and the police is also not so easily involved.

Another difficulty is now an oversupply. Stores where CBD products are available are now numerous. It is no longer a rarity.

For consumers, it is recommended to buy directly from established and certified organic CBD manufacturers like Zuya to ensure that the CBD is pure.

What problems and medical conditions can CBD help with?

To date, some diseases are already known, in which CBD helps or at least promises relief. In many areas, the dosages of classical medications can be reduced and thus the side effects of these medications can also be reduced.
